Artist Daniel Pontet

Photographer Mark Potter at Piper Gallery

Award-winning multimedia artist Daniel Pontet had ignited South Florida’s cultural scene with his paintings, caricatures, political cartoons, courtroom sketches, and illustrations for the past 30 years.

Pontet had been exhibiting his artworks since 1975, and participated in numerous local art events and international art fairs such as Art Americas and Miami River during Art Basel week in South Florida.

Daniel revolutionized the art world with his “Impulse Art”, a live performance where he painted with his feet inspired by live music, and thus incorporating another point of view in this vast, ever expanding world of contemporary art.

Pontet had participated in more than 200 “Impulse Art” events alongside renowned awarded musicians such as Ottmar Liebert, Federico Britos, Roberto Perera, Tommy McWilliam, Richie Cole, just to mention a few.

He had regularly performed his “Impulse Art” monthly as part of Downtown Hollywood ArtWalk, since 2013.  The Event is organized by Hollywood Florida CRA and sponsored by Resurrection Drums.

He was awarded First Prize at the “2004 Hispanic Mural Program” (Miami) sponsored by Heineken and GenArt.  He has been honored with several national and international prizes and
acknowledgements.  In 2010, Fusionarte Association named him one of the “Top 100 Latinos in Miami”.

Daniel passed away on April 11, 2022. Being such a kind, vibrant, encouraging, talented  individual, his death is a profound loss to our community.  Daniel’s works are still available.  Please call the Gallery for details.
