Artist Timothy Forman

Photographer Mark Potter at Piper Gallery

As an impressionist landscape artist, Tim captures the essence of a scene and communicates that which inspires awe.  When outdoors, he is drawn to light and the horizon.  His work is influenced by fine artist A. E. Backus who helped him discover the simple beauty of Florida.  Tim has been painting it ever since.

Tim’s process of painting begins with visiting a particular place where he expects to encounter the splendor of nature.  He often paints a small plein air sketch to capture first impressions.  Then back in the studio, he uses photos, sketches, and these small paintings to develop his larger ideas.  Painting in layers with both knife and brush, Tim uses oil on canvas to create art that captures the simplicity and beauty of the natural world around us.

Tim is the third generation of Formans to have been born and reared in sunny, South Florida.  He began painting as a child when he was ten years old.  Today he devotes full-time effort to his artistic pursuits.  Through his artwork, Tim seeks to lift the spirits and inspire awe above our day-to-day lives.
